ATC expands its professional range with new center channel monitors

Following the recent launch of its flagship 15” / 375 mm active subwoofers SCS120 Pro and SCS120iW Pro, ATC announces the availability of the SCM105AC Pro and SCM105AiWC Pro — precision-engineered centre channel studio monitors for surround and immersive environments — sharing engineering and technology with the company’s proven three-way studio monitors.

This delivers exceptional performance in a compact cabinet format, providing outstanding clarity and resolution in the centre channel.

Both new models are based on the successful SCM110A Pro, a three-way studio monitor trusted by studios worldwide. They feature dual 9” / 234 mm SL bass drivers, a 3” / 75 mm ‘Superdome’ midrange driver, and a 1” / 25 mm S-Spec tweeter, all designed and manufactured in-house by ATC. These dual drivers are powered by a discrete MOSFET Class A/B power amplifier delivering 200 W (bass), 100 W (mid), and 50 W (HF). A 4th-order Linkwitz-Riley electronic crossover with all-pass filters ensures uncompromising phase coherence and sonic clarity.

As their names suggest, ATC offers two high-performance centre channel monitoring configurations: the SCM105AC Pro, available as a free-standing or stand-mount solution, and the SCM105AiWC Pro, optimised for in-wall installation thanks to its full-face square-edge front baffle, enabling seamless integration and improved acoustic performance, along with a recessed rear-mounted input panel that reduces the required installation depth.

The R1-350 Pro remote amplifier partnering the SCM105AiWC Pro is a 19” / 6U rack-mount version of the amplifier that powers the SCM105AC Pro, as well as ATC’s acclaimed SCM50A Pro, SCM100A Pro, SCM110A Pro, and SCM150A Pro studio monitors. It can be installed close to the loudspeakers, flush-mounted in a control room wall, or housed in a 19” rack, with balanced audio and power delivered via front-panel XLR and IEC connectors. Connections to the loudspeaker are made via rear-panel NL8 and 5-pin XLR connectors for speaker-level audio and power/limit LED status, respectively. ATC offers cables in a range of lengths to suit each specific installation.

While the primary application of the SCM105AC Pro and SCM105AiWC Pro is as a centre channel in 5.1, 7.1, and immersive audio systems such as Dolby Atmos, their performance is not application- or channel-specific. Both models can also be used as left/right stereo pairs or as surround channels, should the cabinet format be the most suitable solution for a given room or project.

These two new high-performance centre channel studio monitors are perfectly matched to the SCM50A Pro, SCM100A Pro, SCM110A Pro, and SCM150A Pro, thanks to shared technology, components, and performance. In other words, their compact format now allows these benefits to be realised in a wider range of control rooms and mixing environments, both in recording and audio post-production.
