Finnish manufacturer Amphion Loudspeakers has announced its new Argon 7LS speaker at the Dutch trade show. It's specially designed to avoid the effects of reflective surfaces and is ideal for recording, mixing, mastering and post-production facilities.
The new Argon 7LS replaces the Argon 7L and incorporates the passive radiator design already found in the Argon3S and Argon3LS. The new flagship of Amphion's Argon family was unveiled at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) show in Amsterdam.
The passive radiator eliminates all the problems associated with reflex cabinets, in which the correct signal is always followed by an unwanted tail. The design of the new Argon 7LS achieves a more natural energy transfer, giving the listener an improved connection and listening experience.
Like the company's other speaker models, the Argon 7LS uses the company's signature crossover design. The crossover is set at 1600 Hz, which places it outside the most sensitive range of human hearing and allows the tweeter to be used in that area. This way the speakers work as point sources, solving the problems experienced with coaxial or dual-concentric designs, where the tweeters are housed in the waveguide.
The specific waveguide design creates even dispersion, making it possible to create an enveloping sound. Amphion's acoustic design, together with its unique approach to crossover implementation, has proven its worth in recording, mixing, mastering and post-production facilities around the world. The Argon 7LS speaker uses similar technology, customized for home use, which makes it the best alternative for those who want an experience similar to a professional one.
