Cubase 9.5

Steinberg presents the new updates to its music production systems. The latest incarnations, Cubase Pro 9.5, Cubase Artist 9.5 and Cubase Elements 9.5, focus on features and improvements requested by users for creating, producing and mixing music. The company is thus releasing its 2017 update in November, ahead of its initial plans, with a new mix engine that outperforms its predecessors. There's a redesigned metronome and file browser, a new loudness metering section, master and control room, advanced automation editing and a few more surprises.

The most important advance in Cubase's powerful mixing features is the new mix engine: 64-bit floating-point resolution delivers uncompromising audio processing performance and provides a level of detail and transparency superior to that of previous editions.

Other improvements include the single-window design in Cubase, as well as the implementation of new tabs in the right zone. The newly introduced file browser makes it easy to access and preview media files. The new loudness and Master signal metering section, as well as the Control Room, available exclusively in Cubase Pro 9.5, are now part of the right zone.

A standout feature in version 9.5 is the new metronome with a customizable click that lets you assign different patterns to the signature track. Cubase Pro and Artist 9.5 expand the flexibility of the Click Pattern Editor, allowing click patterns to be set in greater detail.

Other important improvements include advanced automation editing, which now offers smooth transition curves and more detailed automation lanes. In addition, the new selection tool lets you mark a section in the automation lane for quick and easy selection. The Pro and Artist 9.5 versions now offer twice the number of slots and let you add up to 16 VST effects directly on each audio track. The redesigned insert section also offers flexible pre-fader and post-fader positioning. Available in all three 9.5 updates, the Vintage Compressor and Tube Compressor VST processors sport a new look that streamlines their use, while Magneto, the redesigned tape saturator, is exclusive to Cubase Pro 9.5. In addition, the new FLUX wavetable synthesis library was introduced in HALion Sonic SE 3 and is only available in Cubase Pro 9.5 and Cubase Artist 9.5.

Cubase Pro 9.5 also includes Direct Offline Processing, which lets you process events non-destructively while keeping CPU load to a minimum.

The new features and improvements include the new video engine, compatible with the most widespread codecs and external video cards. Adapt to Zoom is the latest zoom tool, which changes the grid snap level according to the zoom factor. Sampler Track improvements include the ability to drag and drop MIDI parts, which are immediately rendered to audio, and the new A/B mode for comparing different settings. Another standout feature coming soon is compatibility and deep integration of Softube's Console 1 hardware controller with Cubase. Finally, Production Presets offer effects chain and Master track presets for producing different musical styles.
