The new interim update to the WaveLab versions focuses on spectral editing, offering a redesigned spectrogram with a host of additional display settings that pay special attention to frequency detail. The latest incarnations of Steinberg's audio editing and mastering software, WaveLab Pro 9.5 and WaveLab Elements 9.5, combine the best audio quality and smooth operation with countless advanced tools for restoring, editing and mastering audio.
Both Pro and Elements introduce RestoreRig, a new plugin suite consisting of the DeNoiser, DeBuzzer and DeClicker modules. RestoreRig's restoration tools let you detect and remove unwanted noise and artifacts in real time.
The new spectral features exclusive to WaveLab Pro 9.5 include an all-new wavelet display that lets you analyze and visualize musical content based on musical pitches. The Spectrum Editor comes with numerous new selection tools such as Lasso, Brush and Magic Wand. It also includes additional processing functions, for example the ability to insert watermarks into the spectrogram.
Another remarkable aspect is the implementation of Audio Inpainting technology in WaveLab, which lets users remove unwanted noise from any audio material and recreate the missing content by analyzing the spectral information of the surrounding area. In addition, the Error Correction toolset is now more easily accessible, while the Live Spectrogram meter provides real-time spectral information during playback and recording.
Besides the newly introduced spectral editing tools, WaveLab Pro 9.5 also offers a wide range of very useful new and optimized plugins. MasterRig, WaveLab's mastering plugin suite, has been improved and now features all-new algorithms and other functions, while Tube Compressor, Vintage Compressor, Maximizer, AutoPan and many other plugins have been completely rebuilt. Two new Batch Processing plugins round out the list of high-quality audio editing tools: Audio Mixer inserts an audio file, e.g. a user's individual audio watermark, into other audio files at defined intervals, and is ideal for creating demo versions of audio releases. elay Next Process Activation delays processing by the next plugin when plugins are processed consecutively.
Both the Pro and the Elements versions support Apple's Touch Bar and are compatible with High DPI resolution. This guarantees an optimal display of WaveLab on today's high-resolution screens. Other improvements and additions requested by users include a gapless MP3 option, a censorship bleep generator, iXML track name support and much more.
The new DDP player perfectly complements the features newly implemented in WaveLab Pro 9.5. It's a standalone application with a separate installer that imports and plays DDP images. This gives mastering studio clients the chance to listen to the final version that's ready for release.
