New Sennheiser MD 435 Vocal Microphone

Until now, this sound was reserved exclusively for major live sound and broadcast productions, but now Sennheiser lets you enjoy the sound of its MD 9235 dynamic capsule in a wired vocal microphone, the MD 435.

“With the high-end MD 435 cardioid microphone, even the softest voices will effortlessly gain more presence,” says Kai Lange, senior product manager at Sennheiser. “Singers will not only stand out in the mix, their voices will also retain that natural quality and detail the MD 9235 capsule is so famous for.”

The MD 435’s lightweight aluminum-copper coil ensures fast transient response, resulting in a highly detailed, nuanced and transparent sound, especially in the highs. The large-diaphragm microphone offers a very wide dynamic range of 146 dB(A) and can handle sound pressure levels of up to 163 dB at 1 kHz. Its excellent acoustics are matched by a mechanical design built to withstand the rigors of touring: the MD 435 features a metal housing and a shock-mounted capsule that protects it from structure-borne noise.

A hum-compensating coil protects the microphone against electromagnetic interference. The MD 435 cardioid microphone has a very pleasant proximity effect and offers good tolerance to sound reaching the capsule from different angles. It reproduces voices clearly and reliably, even at very loud live shows.

The MD 435 microphone capsule, for use with Sennheiser wireless transmitters, is also available as the MM 435 capsule. Thanks to an improved production process, it will soon replace the current MD 9235 capsule.

The MM 435 features Sennheiser’s standard capsule interface, so it is fully compatible with Sennheiser’s evolution wireless G4 series, 2000 series, and Digital 6000 and Digital 9000 series wireless transmitters.

The MD 435 microphone and the MM 435 capsule are each priced at 499 EUR (suggested retail price).
