beyerdynamic has added two new microphones to its Touring Gear (TG) series. The TG D70 dynamic kick drum microphone and the TG I51 instrument microphone make their mark with their wide sound spectrum and rugged design. Both microphones are made from high-quality materials at the brand's facilities in Heilbronn, Germany.
Each microphone features a die-cast zinc housing and a compact design, characteristics that make them stand out both in the studio and on stage. beyerdynamic invited Jost Nickel, drummer for the funk and pop band Jan Delay & Disko No. 1, to be the first musician to test the new microphones during a recording session at the company's studio.
Unbeatable on kick drum: the TG D70
The second-generation TG D70 is the specialist among drum microphones. This large-diaphragm microphone was designed specifically for recording kick drums. With the help of this mic, recordings will be easier and faster.
The TG D70 is really compact and can fit anywhere on a kick drum. The microphone can also be used on cajóns or bass amps to optimally capture the sound of these instruments.
A wide range of uses on instruments: the TG I51
The multipurpose TG I51 brings out the best in every instrument, from snare or toms to guitar amps or brass. This microphone amazes its users with its outstanding sound quality. The mic's slim profile and short shaft make it very easy to attach to a snare rim with the help of beyerdynamic's popular MKV 87 clamp.

The legendary M88 capsule takes on a new form
The refinement of the legendary beyerdynamic M88 capsule in the second-generation TG D70 takes sound quality to a new level never dreamed of by its predecessor. The capsule system has an elastic suspension, a feature that prevents floor impacts from being transmitted through the mic stand. The legendary microphone capsule stands out for its natural, crystal-clear sound.

Precision in noisy environments
The TG D70's hypercardioid pattern provides great isolation from ambient noise and prevents feedback. The microphone completely suppresses sound from the rear and picks up sound from the sides only very weakly. These characteristics make this dynamic microphone the perfect choice for recording drums in noisy environments such as a live concert.
The first drummer to try it
"This microphone reproduces my sound perfectly," says Jost Nickel, drummer for Jan Delay & Disko No. 1, during a recording session at the beyerdynamic studio in Heilbronn. Known as one of the German drummers with the most polished sound, Nickel can also be heard on songs by other German stars such as Sasha, SEEED and Johannes Oerding. Thanks to the long collaboration between the Berlin musician and the manufacturer, many songs have already been recorded with the new microphones.
