Sessiondesk: Studio Furniture Created by and for Sound Engineers

Sessiondesk is a modular studio furniture system that has been on the market since 2013. Behind the brand are Lars and Sebastian von Brönner, German makers who specialize in creating high-quality studios. We spoke with Sebastian, who handles sales and marketing, and he shared the company's secrets with us.

Question: Let's start with an overview. When was Sessiondesk born, and how did you start your business journey?

Sebastian von Brönner: Lars and I studied Sound Engineering and specialized in production and recording. Back then, Lars was already interested in designing and building solutions and systems for recording studios and trade shows, so Sessiondesk was born out of sheer necessity. I decided to get into marketing and communications. One day, we simply joined forces so that every sound engineer could benefit from Sessiondesk.

Sessiondesk: Studio Furniture Created by and for Sound EngineersUntil the beginning of this year, Lars was running the product on his own while managing his recording studio in Frankfurt. A few months ago I decided to become part of the Sessiondesk team and found von Brönner with a fresh approach. With this renewed energy, Sessiondesk has become a reference point.

Q: Where can we find your product? In which countries and markets?

SvB: Sessiondesk / von Brönner is based in Germany, but the product can be ordered by both end users and distributors on our website or directly from our offices. Shipping within Germany is free, while shipping to other European countries runs between 80 and 100 euros per desk. For shipments outside Europe, we calculate the costs individually.

Q: What advantage does your brand have over the competition?

SvB: Sessiondesk is module-based. First, you choose the size of the desk based on the size of your studio and the type of work you do (recording, mastering, mixing, composing...). Then you choose the type of panel you need for each part of the desk: you can choose between one, eight or twelve units. You also choose among twelve-unit racks and additional keyboard trays. Sessiondesk can be expanded later, growing with your needs and the size of your studio. All the materials we use are very high quality, very durable and acoustically optimized.

Q: Who is your product aimed at, and what is it used for?

SvB: Sessiondesk is the perfect solution for recording, mixing and mastering engineers, as well as for composing and producing electronic music. Sessiondesk's modularity offers a combination for every workflow and every room, from small “home-style” production rooms to large orchestral studios.

Q: How many categories do you have? Where do you fit in the market?

Sessiondesk soloSvB: The Sessiondesk modular system is available in the following sizes: Solo is the most space-saving option in the system lineup. It's perfect for mastering studios, composers and small projects or home studios. It's also very easy and inexpensive to expand the Solo into one of our other options.

Duo is perfect for mid-sized production and recording studios. It's typically used by electronic music producers, since it's the perfect size for MIDI keyboards and has enough room for all the recording and mastering hardware. Like the Solo, upgrading to the Trio or the Trapez is easy and inexpensive.

Trio provides ample space for recording and mastering gear. Together with three low racks, it reaches 72 units of rack space. It's typically used in professional studios where every piece of gear needs to be within reach.

Trapez is a classic recording desk that turns a room full of gear into a studio and gives you all the control you need over your recording hardware. Its smart architecture provides dedicated cable channels, so the desk stays clean and distraction-free. The lower computer monitors are positioned so you can see through the window of the recording booth without any obstruction. The Trapez is available in four different sizes: 40, 60, 80 or 100 cm wide.

Its modularity gives you the chance to choose every part of the Sessiondesk. You can install lower racks or a keyboard drawer, depending on your needs.

Q: What is the price range of your products?

SvB: The price of the Sessiondesk depends on its configuration. The larger it is and the more options installed, the higher the cost. However, the modular system offers the chance to start with a small, inexpensive configuration and expand it over time.

The retail price of the smallest Solo or the largest Trapez ranges from 999 euros to 4,199 euros.

Q: Do you offer after-sales service?

SvB: Since our products can be upgraded over time, we love to help and advise our customers.

Q: How can we learn more about your catalog?

SvB: You can browse our entire catalog, including prices, on our website. End users can buy our products directly through the website or through a distributor.

Q: Now a question related to Spain: do you have a distributor? Can we buy directly from you? Are you interested in establishing a distributor in Spain?

SvB: As I mentioned, it's perfectly possible to buy directly from Germany. Shipping within the EU, although it depends a bit on size, runs between 80 and 100 euros. In addition, Sessiondesk // von Brönner is looking for new distributors to shorten shipping times, so anyone who is interested can get in touch with us.

Q: Is there anything you'd like to add about your company? Anything noteworthy?

SvB: The Sessiondesk is a design by sound engineers for sound engineers who work in studios and who know the industry's main problems and workflows. Our customers can grow thanks to our earlier experience and, in this way, optimize their workspace.
