Australian microphone manufacturer RØDE has launched “My RØDE Reel,” an international short film competition for emerging independent filmmakers, giving them the opportunity to share their work.

RØDE Offers Young Filmmakers an Opportunity with Its “My RØDE Reel” Short Film Contest

The purpose of the competition is to motivate filmmakers from all backgrounds to create films and improve their technique. Participants must submit a short film of five minutes or less and a “behind the scenes” video, using RØDE microphones in the shoot. To help short filmmakers refine their technique, RØDE has prepared a support kit and a step-by-step guide along with templates for the script, storyboard, etc.

Three main prizes in filmmaking equipment will be awarded: a jury prize for the best short film, a jury prize for the best “behind the scenes” video and an audience prize for the best short film. There will also be prizes in categories such as “best sound design” and “best soundtrack,” among others. The total value of the prizes exceeds €50,000 and includes BlackMagic and GoPro, Carl Zeiss lenses, Miller tripods, RedRock Micro gear, SmallHD and Teradek monitoring equipment, Kessler gear, ThinkTank bags, Event studio monitors, G-Technology storage, TetherTools accessories, Adobe and RedGiant software, licenses for credits from The Music Bed and, of course, lots of RØDE microphones
