Fender has just unveiled a new version of its Modern Player range in short scale.
The original range, conceived and designed for beginners and very affordably priced, now offers new possibilities thanks to its reduced 24” format.
The Short Scale version applies to the Modern Player Stratocaster and Telecaster guitars, and the Modern Jazz Bass Low.
All of these models therefore have a short body and scale.
The main features shared by the Stratocaster and the Telecaster are their alder bodies and maple necks, with a rosewood fingerboard on the Stratocaster and a maple one on the Telecaster.
Both also have a 9.5” radius and 20 frets.
The main points where they differ, apart from their looks, are the bridge and the pickups.
The ‘Modern Player Short Scale Stratocaster’ has a vintage-style vibrato and an H-S-S configuration with a Guild “Anti-Hum” at the bridge and two single-coils in the middle and neck positions.
It is available in both 'Sunburst' and 'Black' finishes.
The ‘Modern Player Short Scale Telecaster’, for its part, features a bridge with 3 brass saddles and two pickups (a Guild “Anti-Hum” at the neck and a single-coil at the treble position).
This model comes in 'White Blonde' and 'Butterscotch Blonde' finishes.
Finally, the Modern Player Jazz Bass has been designed with an alder body and a maple neck with a modern C profile; a rosewood fingerboard with a 9.5” radius, 18 medium jumbo frets and white dot inlays.
Its reduced scale is 30 " and it uses two pickups: a Hot Jazz Bass in the bridge position and a Precision Bass in the neck position.
It requires Fender Super Bass 7250ML USA .045-.100 strings.
Finishes are available in White and Blonde Candy Apple Red.
