GIBSON 120 LIGHT FLAME TOPIn 2014 Gibson set out to create a legendary instrument with the most modern features. This idea takes shape in the Standard 120 Light Flame Top, the centerpiece of Gibson's anniversary. It combines the most commemorative "Limited Run" features with a refined look that makes this guitar a very versatile vehicle for making music. It keeps all the features that make Les Pauls such coveted instruments, adding the option to choose, according to each player's taste, between three grades of flamed maple, available at different prices: Level 3 (A+), Level 2 (AA) and Level 1 (AAA), with high-gloss finishes thanks to the nitrocellulose lacquer. Continuing with its appearance, it's built on a thinner body, which means lighter weight, unlike the traditional Standard, for the player's comfort, making it easier to move while playing, while keeping the classic 9-hole weight relief. That doesn't mean its resonance is lower; on the contrary, it adds a unique sonic possibility. As for the profile, it has rounded '50s-style shapes, a mahogany neck topped with a rosewood fingerboard and an inlay at the 12th fret with the number 120, which sets it apart from previous models since it was developed for the 120th anniversary of these guitars. The package is completed by Grover tuners; its two Burstbucker pickups take you back to the character of that era with the latest updates and offer a coil-split function. This function uses a mini toggle switch that replaces one of the tone controls, letting you achieve deep, rich tones and unleashing great power without this resulting in vibrations or audio imperfections. This Standard Light Flame Top is a gift for every lover of strings, and of course it has to be looked after very carefully, so for that purpose it comes in a brown case that is very sturdy and rigid so that it suffers no damage in transport.
