Gullfoss Soundtheory

Gullfoss is an adaptive equalizer that analyzes and processes data in real time, allowing it to identify and resolve frequency and balance problems in your mixes quickly and efficiently.

Gullfoss's algorithm listens to the signal in real time and decides how to prepare the data so that the user can extract the maximum information and get the most out of it. Gullfoss thus identifies, understands and distributes the auditory elements present in the mix and balances them to improve the perception of the sound being worked on.

To carry out this enormous task, Gullfoss uses a unique auditory perception technology. This advanced computational model, developed by Soundtheory, opens up new and endless opportunities in sound analysis by perceiving sound the way our ears do and processing it without introducing any auditory artifacts whatsoever. Despite this apparent complexity, Soundtheory has developed an easy-to-use, intuitive tool that's within everyone's reach, from amateur musicians to professional audio engineers.

The software identifies, understands and distributes the auditory elements present in the mix and balances them to improve the perception of the sound being worked on.

It makes it possible to quickly and precisely solve problems in mixes that would otherwise be unsolvable or would require an enormous amount of time and experience to fix. Now, with just 7 adjustable parameters, the clarity, detail, spatiality and balance of a mix or recording are improved in a matter of seconds.

"Gullfoss acts as a pair of excellent ears," says Andreas Tell, Research Director and Co-founder of Soundtheory. "We've created a tool that, above all, is not meant to replace the critical creative decisions in your mixes or your listening as a sound engineer. We know it will improve the sound of practically every mix and master you apply it to. It's unique!"
Gullfoss, Soundtheory's Intelligent EQ That Easily Improves Your Mix

On the manufacturer's website, under the home menu, you'll find a series of demos (audio) that are the most helpful for understanding what it's all about. They're a series of demonstrations in which mixed files are processed, letting you hear the before and after of applying Gullfoss. The demos are interesting because they cover different mixing concepts. Varied (acoustic) styles, folk violin, acoustic piano, a "trance mix," etc. A good way to appreciate how this tool performs in different situations.
