SQUIDTM invites you to take control of the way you work and create new styles of music. Named for the combination of functionality and creative stimulation it offers, SQUID (SeQUencer Inspirational Device) is a new multitrack sequencer in the TORAIZTM series of musical instruments and production gear. It lets you connect all your instruments to use SQUID as the heart of your studio and live setup, and try out innovative features never before seen in this type of gear.
With this new tool it's easy to start creating unique sequence patterns and phrases as soon as you connect SQUID to your instruments. The control layout has been optimized to bring ideas to life effortlessly, whenever inspiration strikes, and its operation is perfect for live music production. All this means you can spend less time looking at the unit's screen and more time making music.

Features
With the first-of-its-kind Groove Bend feature, you can feel the groove and generate original rhythms in real time simply by moving the slider to change the trigger timing. Use Running Direction to create different phrases by changing the playback direction of the sequence patterns you've programmed on the 16 pads, and make the playback speed of sequences fluctuate whenever you like with Speed Modulation. All these features contribute to a new, disruptive, non-linear way of creating music that will boost your creativity and help you compose nimbly and with great sounds.
Once you've created a phrase you like, you can use SQUID Manager to back it up along with all your projects. SQUID Manager is a free application that lets you quickly import/export sequence patterns between SQUID and a PC/Mac.
Navigating your setup, SQUID simultaneously controls up to 16 instruments with its master clock. It keeps everything in sync, from your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) to hardware instruments such as the TORAIZ AS-1 analog (monophonic) synthesizer and/or the TORAIZ SP-16 professional sampler. You can even use modular synths and vintage drum machines/synths seamlessly with the rest of your kit.
SQUID fits perfectly into any environment, studio or live, and helps you turn your ideas into music. It is the third product in the TORAIZ series that you can easily use to create new sounds.
Main features
Step Edit section for intuitive creation of sequence patterns. Have fun creating phrases by tapping the 16 multicolor LED pads. Set the step parameters and play in real time as if the pads were keys on a keyboard, combining various sequencing functions such as Interpolation and Harmonizer to build your own sounds.
Phrase arrangement section for arranging sequence patterns in real time
Use Running Direction, Speed Modulation and Groove Bend to further rearrange the phrases you've created with Step Edit. Each function has an optimized user interface so you can try out different ideas intuitively, as they come to you.

Time Warp: save your "happy accidents."Never lose the phrases you make by accident while you're experimenting. Use Time Warp to listen to the previous phrase you created and save it as a new sequence pattern if you like. There's no need to repeat the process of playing and recording over and over. Just play until you hear something you like, and save it for use in a later track or performance.
Multiple inputs/outputs: sync with multiple instruments. In addition to a USB B port and MIDI ports for your DAW and hardware synths, you can sync and play with modular synths using the two sets of CV/GATE outputs and CLOCK in/out ports. The DIN SYNC in/out ports allow synchronization with classic synths and drum machines. Various signals, including notes and clocks, are automatically converted between each other within SQUID, so you can unleash your creativity simply by adding SQUID to your current setup.
Import/export sequence patterns via PC/Mac. With SQUID's dedicated SQUID Manager, you can quickly import and export sequence patterns between SQUID and your PC/Mac. Easily import a sequence pattern created in your DAW into SQUID, arrange it intuitively using the sequencer functions and send it back to your DAW. Use SQUID Manager to back up the projects you create on SQUID by saving them on your PC/Mac.
