David Morales is an internationally known American DJ. He is also a record producer, songwriter and entrepreneur, and has even won a Grammy Award. He was one of the first DJs to go on major tours, and has been honing his craft since the '80s and '90s through stints at the most legendary clubs in the world.
Some of these were Paradise Garage, Red Zone and Ministry of Sound. He has produced and remixed more than 500 records for multi-platinum artists such as Mariah Carey, U2, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin and Madonna. Today he keeps up the same frenetic pace with which he started in the DJ world: his continuous productions and hunger for innovation keep him at the cutting edge of music.
When it comes to studio work, Morales always knows what he wants and has no doubts about his judgment. Recently, a Pioneer Pro Audio XPRS system, made up of 2 XPRS 12 speakers and 2 XPRS 115S subwoofers, was added to his rig. This system is a great help for mixing and performs with incredible precision live.
“These speakers have an impressive performance. And in terms of gain, I only have to play at around 90 dB (or less) and the system probably hits 130 or more. The subwoofers are more of the same. I haven't used all of them yet, because with just half I'm already getting incredible results. Even the cabinet without a subwoofer gives me a very real bump.”
“At a bar in Japan they had 2 XPRS 12s and 2 subwoofers, so I decided to try them. I loved how they sounded, so it didn't take me long to call Pioneer Pro Audio and tell them I wanted them right away.”
Getting the new XPRS system was, without a doubt, a positive change for David Morales. “If I want to keep doing what I love most, I have to keep giving sound a fundamental role. I mean, it's very important that people dance and have fun! Without these speakers, the sound wouldn't be the same. And I don't compromise my sound for anything in the world!”
