JBL recently announced the introduction of its new SRX800 series of portable powered loudspeakers. This new series incorporates premium JBL transducers and Crown DriveCore amplifiers to deliver exceptional sound quality. The SRX800 series models also make it possible to fine-tune the sound with their configurable DSP.
The JBL SRX800 series lineup includes the SRX812P, a two-way with a 12" woofer; the SRX815P, a two-way with a 15" woofer; the SRX835P, a three-way with a 15" woofer; the SRX818SP subwoofer, with an 18" woofer; and the only powered dual-woofer subwoofer in this price range: the SRX828SP. "The portable PA market has been moving more and more toward powered models, and our new SRX800 series was created to redefine the standards in this category," says Andy Flint, Senior Manager, Portable PA Marketing, JBL Professional.
"Its built-in Crown amplification and configurable DSP offer truly striking tuning capabilities, enabling a new level of sonic precision in any system or application." The SRX series uses premium JBL transducers that combine high power handling with extremely low distortion. High frequencies are handled by waveguides that provide precise control of the horizontal and vertical pattern, with a smooth frequency response over a wide area. The high-excursion woofers deliver the brand's signature powerful, clear bass with minimal power compression, even during continuous use at high volumes. The sound pressure level of the SRX800 loudspeakers and subwoofers has been rated at between 135 dB and 141 dB, depending on the model. All SRX800 models feature built-in Crown DriveCore amplifiers with an output power of 2000W (1000W on the SRX818P), to deliver clean power and plenty of headroom effortlessly. Harman's DriveCore technology makes it possible to design lightweight, energy-efficient and at the same time extremely powerful amplifiers.
The DSP built into the amplifier includes 20 parametric EQs, 96 kHz finite impulse response (FIR) filters for improved crossover tuning, delay adjustment and even a signal generator to help with calibration. All models also include JBL AE Series preset settings, which make for fast system setup. In addition, the JBL SRX800 series loudspeakers and subwoofers are fully compatible with Harman's HiQNet network communication protocol, allowing them to be controlled via Audio Architect or JBL SRX Connect, the new Android and iOS app that offers a fast, streamlined approach to system control. The SRX800 series enclosures are built for extreme durability, even in the most demanding applications. These loudspeakers feature M10 suspension points for easy installation, as well as 35 mm pole cups for tripod mounting. The rear panels feature an LCD display and fluorescent screen printing to make them easier to adjust on dark stages. The SRX812P also includes feet that allow it to be used as a main loudspeaker or as a monitor.
