Available from this September and distributed worldwide by Yamaha Commercial Audio, the Audinate Dante-MY16-AUD card offers high-performance digital media networking and opens up a new world of multitrack recording possibilities for users of Yamaha digital audio products, which meet the demanding requirements of professional live sound, sound reinforcement installations and broadcasting.

The Dante-MY16AUD card, presented at InfoComm 2009, includes Audinate’s patent-pending Dante™ technology, which distributes digital audio with imperceptible latency, sample-accurate playback synchronization and excellent reliability.

With a truly "plug and play," self-configuring digital audio network that uses standard Internet protocols over 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps Ethernet, Dante-enabled devices configure themselves, automatically detecting the location and number of channels of other devices on the network, which reduces complicated installation requirements.

Dante technology runs on standard network hardware and doesn’t need a dedicated network infrastructure. In addition, it can use the same Ethernet network to transmit uncompressed audio and also handle normal data traffic.

Another important innovation the Dante-MY16-AUD card brings is Audinate’s Dante Virtual Soundcard (DVS) software. With DVS, a Macintosh or Windows computer acts like any other Dante-enabled device. Just install DVS and connect the computer using the standard Ethernet port.

Each Dante-MY16-AUD card provides 16 bidirectional audio channels (eight at 96 kHz) and full Dante network audio redundancy. More cards can be added to increase the number of channels, allowing Yamaha product users to record up to 48 channels of 24-bit audio directly into any recording software (Mac or PC) without an audio interface.

Compatible with a wide range of Yamaha digital products, including the PM5D, DSP5D, M7CL, LS9, DM2000, DM1000, 02R96 and 01V96 mixing consoles, the DME24N and DME64N digital mixing engines and TXn series amplifiers, the Dante-MY16-AUD card also features a high-quality built-in VCXO clock, which can act as master or slave clock for the audio equipment.

“Yamaha is one of the most respected companies in professional audio, and we are pleased to have them as distributors of the Dante-MY16-AUD card,” says Lee Ellison, CEO of Audinate, Inc.

“With the new card installed, customers will be able to easily connect to other Dante-enabled products and offer a broader networking solution.”

Yamaha Commercial Audio Europe’s European marketing manager, Nick Cook, adds: “This product brings new, innovative levels of functionality to a wide range of our digital products. In particular, the ability to record up to 48 channels of high-quality audio directly from the console, without an audio interface, will be a very valuable feature for Yamaha product users.”

The Dante-MY16-AUD card hits the market this September. Each card includes a single license for the Dante Virtual Soundcard (DVS) software.
