Danish artist and producer Anders Trentemøller is touring 20 European festivals with a wide selection of DPA microphones. These include ten d:dicate™ 2011C compact cardioids, four d:vote™ 4099D instrument microphones, one d:vote™ 4099CM instrument microphone, two d:facto™ 4018VL linear vocal microphones and two d:dicate™ 4017C Compact Shotgun microphones.
Based in Copenhagen, Trentemøller is internationally acclaimed for his heartbreaking melodies, his exceptional productions and his distinctive sound somewhere between indie and electronic. His current work is driven by his passion for experimentation and his success in blending influences and genres, which delivers a much more natural version of his signature sound.
To bring this sound to the stage, Trentemøller's sound engineer and FOH technician, Sune Snellman Jakobsen, asked for a wide range of DPA microphones for this summer's festival tour.
"We are using d:dicate 2011C microphones on the kick, snare, hi-hats, overheads and on the bass amp," says Jakobsen. "The d:vote instrument microphones are being used under the snare, on toms and for some percussion"

Jakobsen started using DPA microphones on acoustic instruments a few years ago, but only recently tried them on drums while touring with the Danish band Mew.
"I was impressed by the way these microphones, particularly the small d:vote, handled loud sound sources," he says. "The microphones we are using on the drums for the Trentemøller tour offer a true and natural reproduction of the sound, very clear in the top end, lower on loud sounds and a clearer, flatter reproduction in the midrange, which allows me to shape the tone and transients of the drums to our taste. The microphones also easily handle high levels and offer good separation of the percussion sounds"
His views are shared by Lars Peter Jensen, who is mixing monitors for the group. "We can get a natural, clean sound in the monitor mixes, and adjust the channels to shape our sound and get the one we want in the PA mix," he explains.
On tour with Trentemøller are vocalist and guitarist Marie Fisker, guitarist Jeppe Brix, bassist Jakob Falgren, and on drums, Jakob Hoyer. Trentemøller handles keyboard duties and sings on a single track, so both Trentemøller and Fisker are using d:facto Vocal microphones on Jakobsen's recommendation.
"I've used the d:facto vocal microphone before and I'm very impressed with the natural, clear sound it delivers, its ability to reveal great detail and clarity, and the fact that it handles feedback very well," says Jakobsen. "We always play electronic rock loud, and the d:facto lets us keep the vocal on top of the mix, delivering a clean, defined vocal sound. Marie is very happy with the d:facto because it captures her voice with a natural tone, and its isolation means her voice can be loud in the mix she hears in her ears without interfering with the stage and room sound"
Trentemøller now has four studio albums, including the latest, Fixion, which adds to his successes and was released in September 2016 on the In My Room imprint. The group recently completed a club tour to promote the album, which included 50 shows in the United States and many more in European cities.
