The New DX168 Unit Offers More I/O for the dLive Range

Allen & Heath has added the new DX168 portable expander rack to its dLive digital mixing system, offering more I/O options for the range. It has 16 mic inputs via XLR and 8 line inputs, also via XLR, and it communicates with the dLive system using Allen & Heath's exclusive 96 kHz DX protocol over a CAT5e cable, which allows cable runs of up to 100 meters between the dLive system and the unit.

In "Redundant" mode, it's possible to make redundant connections using two cables with dLive S Class hardware, as well as non-redundant connections using a single cable with S Class and C Class systems. Alternatively, in "Cascade" mode (available in the upcoming firmware 1.60), up to 6 DX168 units can be connected to any dLive S Class or dLive C Class system, providing up to 96 inputs and 48 outputs of remote I/O.

The DX168 comes in a rugged stage box format, with hard rubber protection and a carrying handle, making it easy to place directly on the stage floor. An optional kit allows the unit to be mounted in a standard 19" rack.

Ben Morgan, product manager for the live sound product line, comments: "The DX168 makes it very easy to add more I/O to any dLive system and to deploy those inputs and outputs wherever they're really needed. Its rugged design lets it stand up to the rigors of daily use on stage, while offering a lightweight, very easy-to-carry format that can also be rack-mounted, to provide the highest level of flexibility."
