After fifteen successful years in the Austrian post-production industry, Frei Audio Tonstudio has decided to celebrate its latest anniversary by investing in a new mixing system. The studio's existing system was centered on a Yamaha DM2000 digital mixing console and a Steinberg Nuendo DAW, so acquiring a Yamaha Nuage system was the most logical decision.
Based in Klagenfurt, Frei Audio is a studio offering full services to the post-production sector for film and television productions, as well as music composition and production for commercials and films. The studio has exceptional acoustics, full monitoring, ADR facilities, audio over ISDN/IP and many years of experience in every aspect of audio production.

The Yamaha DM2000 console has provided flawless service since the studio opened fifteen years ago, but after so long, studio owner Andreas Frei was eager to upgrade the facilities. "Just as with the DM2000, we have centered our work on Steinberg Nuendo for quite some time," he explains. "That's why we've had our eye on Nuage ever since it went on sale. We knew it was the logical step we would have to take sooner or later."
The system, supplied by Toni Kindler of KS-Music, Yamaha Nuage's Austrian partner, includes a master unit and a fader unit to provide all the services Frei Audio needs. Peter Moritz, a specialist from Pomtec, was in charge of the installation.
"It's been a pleasure working with Nuage. It's a real console: you can make artistic decisions intuitively while using it, and it definitely improves the sound," says Andreas. "We're really looking forward to using the system on future projects."
