XLS DriveCore™ 2 amplifiers. This is a series of 2-channel power amps that includes several improved features over its predecessor series. Among them, we highlight more flexible DSP band-pass filtering, selectable input sensitivity, remote power-on operation and a sleek new design.
Four models make up the series: the XLS2502, XLS2002, XLS1502 and XLS1002. Their power ratings range from 350 to 775 watts per channel at 4 ohms, and from 1,100 to 2,400 watts in bridged mono at 4 ohms. Setting new benchmarks for performance and value in amplifiers at this price, the XLS DriveCore 2 series features Harman's exclusive DriveCore amplification circuitry. It combines high output power with exceptional energy efficiency, all at a weight of less than 5 kg (about 11 lb).

The XLS DriveCore 2 amplifiers now offer a band-pass filter on each channel, in addition to the low-pass and high-pass filters of the previous models. This allows more precise adjustment of the DSP crossover, a better match between the amplifiers and the speaker cabinets they drive, and greater system EQ capability. All models let you disable the front-panel LED indicators (except the clip and thermal indicators) if desired, which helps reduce distraction in dark rooms. All the amplifiers have selectable input sensitivity of 1.4 Vrms or 0.775 Vrms, making them easier to use in a wider variety of applications and allowing the amplifiers to run at full power.
The XLS DriveCore 2 amps now feature a remote power-on function that lets you switch them on and off from a distance. The amplifiers also include a "sleep" mode for the display, which turns off its backlight after a specified time. All models offer a security setting that disables the front-panel menu buttons. The menu is locked and unlocked by pressing a simple button combination. In addition, a reset function lets you restore all the factory settings. The power ratings of the different XLS DriveCore 2 models (per channel, into 4-ohm loads) are as follows: XLS2502, 775 W; XLS2002, 650 W; XLS1502, 525 W; and XLS1002, 350 W.
All of them incorporate Crown's DriveCore Class D amplifier design, which is the size of a postage stamp and combines the amplification module with the output power stage, together with audio signal functions, to deliver remarkably efficient and smooth operation, in line with Harman International's GreenEdge™ environmental initiative.
What's more, every amplifier in the series takes up only 2 rack units. Crown XLS DriveCore 2 amplifiers can run into 8-, 4- and 2-ohm loads and can also operate in bridged mono at 8 and 4 ohms. Other additional features include PeakX™ limiters that deliver maximum output while protecting the speaker cabinets, balanced XLR, jack and RCA inputs, banana and Speakon outputs, and more.
All Crown XLS DriveCore 2 amplifiers are covered by a 3-year warranty against any failure.
