Crown recently announced the launch of its new XLi series of amplifiers. Designed for musicians, bands, DJs, clubs, bars, houses of worship and other applications where price matters, without compromising performance or reliability. The series consists of four models and is positioned as the new standard for professionals getting started in sound reinforcement.
The new XLi3500, XLi2500, XLi1500 and XLi800 models are powerful, rugged and reliable, and fit a wide range of live sound and installation applications perfectly.
The Crown XLi3500, XLi2500, XLi1500 and XLi800 amps deliver 1000, 500, 330 and 200 watts per channel, respectively, at 8 ohms. In bridged mono they deliver 2700, 1500, 900 and 600 watts, respectively, into 8 ohms.
All models offer selectable input sensitivity, to suit a wide variety of sound sources that may have low output levels. For input connections, they have balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connectors. XLi amplifiers can operate in stereo, parallel or bridged mono and have output connectors in both binding post and Speakon formats, making them easy to use with practically any type of passive PA speaker cabinet.
All four amplifiers have front-panel level controls as well as signal-present, clip and fault indicators. Like the rest of Crown's amps, the XLi series models offer a range of protection against short circuits, no-load conditions and sudden power-on and power-off. The amplifiers are also protected against radio frequency interference, to keep the sound pure even in situations with considerable wireless activity.
