JBL recently announced the launch of its new high-power portable PA system, the PRX800W. It features wireless control and sophisticated DSP so that musicians and live sound professionals can set up and tune the system directly from a mobile device. Clarity, power, light weight and Wi-Fi control.

The PRX800 is the first PA system in its class to offer comprehensive wireless control. The PRX Connect app for iOS and Android mobile devices connects wirelessly to every unit in the system simultaneously, providing full control of each cabinet's built-in DSP. With control over parameters such as 8-band parametric EQ, delay, mute, gain and more, the PRX Connect app helps musicians get the perfect sound for their performances... and faster than ever! Users can walk around the room during soundcheck and adjust the cabinets until they reach optimal sound quality. The app also makes it possible to set up performances offline and save presets for quick adjustment later.
With built-in 1,500-watt Class D power amplification, the PRX800W system is the most powerful and efficient of all portable PA systems in its class. Patented Differential Drive™ woofer technology reduces magnet mass while improving power handling.
The updated tuning delivers a flat frequency response and a smooth off-axis response. The cabinets, built entirely of wood, feature tongue-and-groove joints, a tour-proof DuraFlex® protective finish and scratch-resistant steel grilles. PRX800W systems pass a rigorous durability test, including a 100-hour "torture test" to ensure optimal operation in any real-world environment. The result is an ultra-reliable system of remarkably light weight, capable of delivering clear, clean sound at extremely high volumes.
The PRX800 cabinets feature a wealth of innovations from the Harman family of brands, setting a new standard for flexibility, scalability and sound quality in the portable PA category. The redesigned input panel from Crown has XLR, 1/4" and RCA inputs, as well as loop-through connections and professional outputs, offering several options for connecting sound sources and for routing. dbx™ Type IV limiting brings the system back to safe levels when any frequency band is at its limit, ensuring that the sound stays accurate and uncompressed, even at very high volumes and over long periods. An intelligent variable-speed fan cools the system only when needed, ensuring optimal sound quality during quieter performances. PRX800W systems scale easily by adding more cabinets and integrate seamlessly with other JBL self-powered systems.
