The wait is finally over. Allen & Heath (DJ) has answered user demand with the launch of its new flagship, the Xone:96 analog DJ mixer, destined to become a club classic. Aimed at artists who want to push the boundaries of music production and their live performances, Xone:96 takes the analog soul of the legendary Xone:92 mixer and reissues it, reinforced with the most advanced digital connectivity.
David Morbey, Senior Product Manager at Allen & Heath, expresses his understandable enthusiasm: “Xone:96 has it all. The grand, detailed Xone sound, a new, redefined four-band precision EQ with Xone:VCF filters and CRUNCH harmonic distortion, plus a dual 32-bit USB sound card (24 channels @ 96kHz) with Traktor Scratch certification.”
With a familiar layout of hands-on controls and advanced audio tools that let you create a fully customized sound, Xone:96 lets users easily connect all their gear, from laptops and turntables to pedals, synthesizers and drum machines. It has two dedicated FX sends, four stereo input channels with 4-band EQ, two stereo inputs with an all-new three-band parametric EQ, two stereo auxiliary return channels and a completely independent master insert that allows external hardware effects units to be inserted.
Underscoring its professional club credentials, Xone:96 also has a second, completely independent headphone cue system which, together with its dual sound card, allows smoother transitions between DJs and double-header sets. The dedicated booth outputs, which feature a new 3-band booth EQ, make it easier to tune the venue's monitoring system, while artists using complex hybrid multichannel software will welcome the simplicity of connecting their computer to Xone:96 with a single USB connection. As you would expect, Xone:96 offers industrial-grade build quality, able to withstand the rigors of night-after-night performances.
David Morbey concludes: “The launch of Xone:96 is a pivotal moment for us, as it is the result of our determination to listen to, and act on, the feedback the international DJ community has sent us. During the development of Xone:96, we took very seriously the standing Xone:92 has earned as an undisputed classic. It was clear we couldn't afford to lose its essence, and also that we should try to exceed the expectations of those who were pushing us to deliver another state-of-the-art mixer. It's no exaggeration to say that every fader, control, button and switch has been subjected to a ‘forensic’ level of attention. Xone:96 is the answer to every request we were given.”
