Pedro Andrea: "Seek to Exploit Your Own Identity"Dear Pedro, first of all, and as always, thank you for your time and warmth. You couldn't be missing from this special, so we're pleased to share your opinions, knowledge and projects.

How did the summer go? Lots of work?
First of all, a thousand thanks to you for the help you've always offered me. As for work, I took part in one of the Operación Triunfo tours, which, given the steam it's starting to lose, hasn't been very generous. That's been bad for my wallet, but, well, good for future projects, since it removes such a big competitor.

Readers are very curious to learn about your research and development in the particular techniques you use. Do you have plans to release new instructional material? How does replacing the cold material of a pick with each and every one of the musician's fingers expand the ability to communicate on an electric guitar?
My latest instructional video, “El estilo de Pedro Andrea” (Pedro Andrea's Style), came out in September. I'm not sure that, although fingers are a human element and the pick an artificial one, using them has a greater capacity to convey emotion than using a pick. I will tell you, however, that I feel more comfortable and consider my sound and ideas better portrayed using my right hand; this system may be more awkward and ineffective for other guitarists who prefer the pick.

Since our readers are looking to quench their thirst for "guitar amplification" in this issue, we'd like to see it through your eyes and perception. So, today, what would you tell our readers about amplification?
For a guitarist like me, whose goals have always included (whether I've achieved them or not) the search for and exploitation of my own identity, the ideal is to have gear built to the specifications of the person who's going to use it. That's why, after long conversations with the Sinmarc brand, I've managed to find what we might call the amp of my life. It's the Pedro Andrea Signature model, which I'll start using at the end of this year or the beginning of next, since it's currently in the final stage of manufacturing. However, in the past I've worked for and with different brands, and of almost all of them I'd highlight Crate, as, within the limits of a production amp, it's one of those that has best adapted to my needs. With it I recorded the latest Cómplices album, Vapor Blues, the instructional video “El estilo de Pedro Andrea,” etc.

So here is the reflection of one of the pairs of hands, ears and souls most bound to the guitar among those privileged with the gift of making people feel when they press the fretboard. Pedro Andrea, thank you very much for sharing a small part of yourself with us once again.
