Five spectacular new models have been added to the SAM monitor series, considered an undisputed benchmark in the industry. The new models feature more powerful DSPs and Class D amplification, among other features.

This new generation of products also brings a spectacular step forward in AoIP technology with the new 8430 monitor.

The SAM™ research and development project began in the early 1990s, and the first product developed on these principles was introduced in 2006, setting a new standard in audio monitoring. Ten years after the successful launch of the 8200 and 7200 series, Genelec's commitment to offering the most advanced monitoring solutions continues.

SAM stands for "Smart Active Monitoring," and it is currently the most powerful solution on the market in terms of software-based management, control and calibration of listening systems, from stereo up to 30 channels. Audio post-production studios working in multichannel, in particular, find in Genelec SAM products a tool unmatched by other manufacturers.

The new 8340 and 8350 models, combined with the new 7360 and 7370 subwoofers, offer systems of maximum flexibility for the most demanding monitoring needs, in both analog and digital audio applications.

DSP engines

The new generation of SAM systems includes floating-point DSP engines, linear-phase response and even more refined spectral tuning and auto-calibration capabilities, allowing better integration into the room and greater ease of use in any environment.

New Genelec Studio Monitors with SAM TechnologyTheir universal voltage input allows them to be connected to any power grid, letting you travel the world with your monitors without any trouble. Genelec's high-efficiency Class D amplifiers, combined with the most advanced drivers, enable the 8340 and 8350 to achieve noticeably higher sound pressure than their predecessors, with wide dynamic range, flatter frequency response and extremely low distortion. This means you can enjoy a clean, neutral, extremely accurate sound free of listening fatigue. The new Smart monitors offer all the advantages of the 8000 series, such as the Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE™) developed by Genelec, which provides a very low cutoff frequency and a vibration-free structure for spectacularly clean sound at high output levels.

Their innovative Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW™) also helps achieve sound reproduction of the utmost accuracy, in any position, both on and off the listening axis.

Also part of the new SAM product line is the 8430A audio-over-IP monitor, compatible with AES67. As the first IP-compatible monitor on the market, the 8430A is set to become an indispensable tool for IP-networked audio systems in recording studios, post-production, digital editing suites, radio and television broadcasting.

The new Genelec 7360 and 7370 Smart subwoofers are built with Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE™) technology, which has already more than proven its efficiency, allowing them to deliver articulate, precise bass with enormous dynamic capability, higher sound pressure level and more headroom. Both subwoofers include a complete bass management system offering both 7.1 analog and stereo digital inputs in a very efficient and cost-effective format that requires no additional external AD converters.

The Genelec Loudspeaker Manager software (GLM™ 2.0) is part of the GLM system, a powerful and intuitive networked monitor control system that manages the connectivity of all Genelec SAM systems. The smart GLM AutoCal™ technology improves monitoring accuracy by compensating for deficiencies in the listening environment. After an automatic calibration, based on one or more listening positions, all components in the system play at the same level, removing all acoustic coloration from the monitors' response and leaving a superbly consistent sound with a neutral sound image.

The GLM 2.0 software lets all SAM monitor users benefit from the continuing evolution of SAM technology through a Mac- and Windows-based user interface. In addition, the new SAM systems are compatible with earlier models, making it easy to expand any existing monitoring system and protecting previous investments in Genelec products. SAM systems are the most advanced and flexible monitoring solutions available on the market today, and they are an absolute reference in audio monitoring for broadcast, post-production, film and music studios.
