Professional sound
Each of the microphone models in Mic Room has been meticulously recreated to deliver a surprising level of accuracy and detail. Each model features the true frequency response, nuanced character and specific sound of its physical counterpart. There are harmonically complex tube condensers, aggressive dynamics and smooth, velvety ribbon mics, plus a variety of creative and unusual options chosen to inspire new ideas in the studio.
Total transformation
The way Mic Room works is simple. It easily changes the sonic profile of recorded audio to match the signature of the chosen microphone. It is a T-RackS module, which makes it easy to place on an individual track – it can be used inside T-RackS or as a standalone plug-in. It is designed to be loaded on individual tracks in a large mix containing audio recorded with microphones, such as vocals, acoustic guitars, miked guitar amps, drum tracks and more.
Once loaded on a track, T-RackS Mic Room lets users choose the "source" microphone that was used to record the original audio from a list of all the models available in the module. They can then choose a new microphone to re-mic the character of the original recording, matching the specific nuance, color and tonal character of the microphone they would like for their mix. Each microphone model can be adjusted to deliver the best possible sound thanks to an intuitive graphical interface that provides an easy-to-read meter and a click-and-drag gain knob.
Creative control
While its large collection of microphones provides a high degree of creative freedom, T-RackS Mic Room also comes equipped with some extra control functions that allow even greater sonic customization.
The proximity control lets users emulate the proximity effect that occurs naturally when a sound source is close to a microphone. By adjusting this control, users can make it sound as if they were right next to the mic for a rich, bass-heavy sound. Or, alternatively, they can digitally remove the low frequencies for a completely different sound. In addition, the harmonic content setting provides control over the rich harmonic complexity of a tube condenser. It adds a kind of saturation, texture and warmth that works very well for adding a little sparkle to lifeless vocal tracks.
