This is the most powerful RME version to date. A FireWire/USB audio interface with 12 analog I/Os, 2 ADAT and AES. It offers 30 I/O channels, digitally controlled preamps and excellent conversion quality at resolutions up to 192 kHz.
It combines USB and FireWire connections with robust drivers, delivering ultra-low latency operation. It includes active jitter suppression, support for professional reference levels, advanced standalone-mode functions and the DIGICheck measurement and analysis tool. The Fireface UFX has a total of 30 I/Os, of which 8 are balanced TRS line inputs on the rear panel and 4 are XLR inputs with mic/instrument preamps on the front. It includes 2 ADAT ports and digital I/O in S/PDIF and AES/EBU formats
It includes TotalMix FX, the new digital mixer and signal router, which uses two DSPs with EQ, dynamics control and reverb/echo.
The Fireface UFX features a front-panel display capable of showing channel signal levels and effects buses, with full control of the key features.

Interface Details
Analog outputs: The rear panel has 6 balanced TRS outputs and two XLR outputs, also balanced. On the front there are two stereo TRS headphone outputs, delivering a high signal level even with high-impedance headphones.
Equipped with the latest A/D and D/A converters, the Fireface UFX can operate at 192 kHz and reach a dynamic range of up to 118 dBA on playback, even on the headphone outputs.
Mic/instrument preamps: The Fireface UFX has 4 microphone preamps with a transparent sound. They use 4 stereo converters equipped with RME's parallel conversion technology. The Fireface UFX preamps are based on the design of the Micstasy, RME's reference preamp. Thanks to its symmetrical design, it offers extremely low distortion, an excellent signal-to-noise ratio and a linear frequency response. The digitally controlled gain can reach 65 dB of amplification, adjustable in 1 dB steps. All level settings can be recalled at any time through the TotalMix software or controlled remotely via MIDI.
Digital I/O: AES/EBU: The UFX includes an AES/EBU digital I/O capable of operating up to 192 kHz
ADAT: The UFX includes two ADAT channels, so 16 additional I/O channels can be added to the analog I/Os. They can operate at 192 kHz sample rates via S/MUX4.
S/PDIF: The second ADAT port can be used as an optical S/PDIF I/O.
Word Clock and MIDI: Includes Word Clock I/O and two MIDI I/Os.
USB and FireWire: With the launch of the Fireface 800 in 2004, RME revolutionized the FireWire audio interface market. In 2009, RME launched the Fireface UC, a USB solution with exceptional performance not available in other USB audio interfaces. The secret of its success: RME is the only manufacturer that doesn't use third-party USB or FireWire technology. The Fireface UFX combines USB and FireWire connections in a single interface.
The Fireface UFX's special firmware makes it possible to achieve ultra-low latencies even on multiple channels over the USB 2.0 connection. The USB connector is compatible with USB 3 chipsets.
The FireWire connection delivers performance as exceptional as the USB connection. The Fireface UFX doesn't have a FireWire chip as such. This new technology is fully compatible with, for example, the infamous Agere chipset that has caused so many headaches.

Usability
Display: In pursuit of an exceptional user experience, the UFX includes a high-resolution color display. Combined with three rotary encoders, the UFX's main features can be controlled manually from the front of the unit.
