The Tom Petty Kingman is a high point in Fender hand craftsmanship, with a feature combination unlike any other Acoustic Custom Shop instrument we’ve ever created.
It’s a Rock&Roll tone artifact instilled with great music history, from the hit-cranking Heartbreakers to the Traveling Wilburys to Petty’s memorable solo career.
Each of these 25 Kingman guitars was conceived with all of these influential moments in mind–and marked by the personal touches and input of Petty himself.
Vintage personality blends with today’s technology in ways that only Fender’s most talented luthiers could achieve, with Petty’s hand in the process every step of the way.
This guitar is engineered for that same all-American Petty tone you love. But more importantly, it reflects our commitment to creating feel-good music that inspires—a commitment the singer-songwriter has carried on for decades.
Along with special features, each limited edition instrument includes Petty's signature on the back of the headstock for a true personal touch.
The Tom Petty Kingman guitar’s AA Sitka spruce top resonates delightfully alongside warm, balanced genuine mahogany back and sides.
Petty tweaked his Fishman VT-2 pickup/preamp system with the addition of two top-mounted control knobs, a feature typically seen on ’60s-style acoustic guitars.
For retro-style resonance and a natural feel, it comes lacquered with a thin nitrocellulose finish.
A ’62 Stratocaster headstock adorns a classic “C” shaped neck, glossed with a “Midas gold” finish.
Petty gave his namesake instrument a true seal of approval, with a genuine signature inside the soundbox alongside a handwritten serial number.
